Monday Madness!!

Well, I am so very glad I have a GT training workshop tomorrow!! I get to sleep in late and leave early. I was up at work till 5:30 trying to get things caught up and stuff ready for the sub, but I feel better when I get home and I know everything is in place. I cant believe it's been so long since I've posted, Im becoming a slacker I guess. So here it goes:
  • Things at work have been interesting and complicated, and I know that God is putting me in a spot to test my faith! Everyday I have to remind myself 2 things. First, everything happens for a reason. Secondly, he wouldnt put something in front of me that he knew I couldnt handle.
  • Maddie got her first back tooth and she is officially 21 pounds!
  • I love going to the Fireproof sessions!! It gives us Godly things to talk about and discuss involving our marriage. I also feel that it is bringing us even closer to each other as well as with God! What a great feeling! I have also decided that instead of staying home on the Sundays that Josh works, I will start going with friends to Immanuel Baptist.
  • I lost 1 pound last week!!
  • We stuck to our goal of eating at home 3 days last week, and I only drank water when we went out to eat!! I also made it a point to work out on the Wii as much as possible, which wasnt that much, but better than nothing.
  • I took some pictures of Maddie yesterday with her first gun, I will post them later!

All About Cakes!

This weekend, I spent alot of time at my friends Amy and Dales house. We made a few cakes and I decided to put them on here, as well as all the cakes I have made over the past few years. Amy sold her first cake the other day (the UT cake), and then we started talking about going in buisness someday, lol. It's fun to think about because we enjoy doing it so much. So I guess if I decide someday that I no longer want to teach, I will be able to go into the cake buisness.

I made the guitar cake for my sister's birthday.
The tractor cake was for Shyannes wedding shower that was the John Deere Theme

These are Maddie's birthday cakes

Shyanne's baby shower cake

Lacy's bacholorette party cake

Birthday cake for ladies at work.

Super bowl cake that Amy and I made together this weedend

And my favorite, the UT cake that we made together also. This was my first experience messing with fondant, its not as bad as I thought. It looks really nice anyway. This was her first cake that she sold.

Fireproof

  • SAISD will not be starting school until 10'o clock tomorrow!! So I get to sleep in on a school day! Also we get to wear jeans, which is a treat for us teachers!
  • Fireproof came out today, and I went straight to Blockbuster to rent it after work, and lucky me, they had one. So Josh and I watched it today, and I LOVED it! It has a great message to those having trouble in thier marriage, but also reminded me of the small things that you can do to remind your partner how much they mean to you. And most importantly, how crucial it is to have God be the center of your relationship with each other.
  • On Sunday we got invited to go with some friends to a "Fireproof" session at Immanuel Baptist. It was GREAT! It takes parts of the movie and the Bible and stresses the importance of your covenant to each other with God. There are 6 sessions that break down different topics, and since we missed the first 2 we are going to start over tomorrow night in their Wednesday night session. I cant wait! After each session, you and your spouse get homework to do seperatly, then you compare to see if you are on the same page. We also got the book, The Love Dare, which has the 40 day challenge in it. Not that Josh and I are having problems, but I want to do it for him anyway as a way to make our relationship even stonger, and as a way to show him how much I love him and appreciate all that he does for me. Im thinking this summer so I can focus on each day, and really put effort into it without being stressed out at work. After the session on Sunday was over we went and ate with Amy and Dale, and Crista and Tony. It was a BLAST! I cant wait to see them again tomorrow night.

Memories!

There are so many babies being born or fixing to be born in the next few months, and it has made me think back to when Maddie was a newborn. Then after showing one of my friends at work some of my pictures on my blog, I realized there were no newborn pictures of her on here. So I figured there is no better time to post pictures of her as a baby, than the monumental 1 year and 5 months old mark, lol.

A Day At the Ranch!

Just thought I would show you some pictures of Maddie when we went to the ranch the other day to shoot some targets. She stayed in the truck while we took turns shooting and sitting with her. She did want to participate so we let her drive the truck ;) and wear some ear muffs. Hopefully she will still want to hang out with us when we do things like this in years to come.

Christmas Holiday

I will just start from the beginning.....

  • This year the only thing we bought Maddie was a CD player for her bedroom so she can listen to some CD's she has had. All her gifts from "Santa" actually came from Granny Betty. She got an Elmo, a barn with animal sounds (her favorite), a Cabbage Patch doll (which is as big as she is), and a bath toy since she only has rubber ducks. She opened the barn all by herself, but then we couldnt tear her away from it long enough to open the rest of the gifts.
  • Josh had to work Christmas Eve, so Maddie and I went to Bronte with my family.

  • When Josh got home on Christmas morning, we went to my dads to open presents, then left for my Aunt Tanya's to open presents and eat breakfast. Then around 12 we headed over to Lacy's house to do Christmas with his family. WHEW!! What a day. Maddie got several other gifts, another one from Granny Betty which I think became her new favorite. She got a music table with tons of buttons and lots of songs that she can dance too. She has been dancing alot lately!
  • We had been to Clyde the weekend before to do Christmas with my dads family, and had to go back to Clyde on Saturday to do Christmas with my mom.
  • Then on Sunday Josh and I headed to Shreveport, LA and would be coming back on Tuesday night so Josh could be at work on Wednesday. The kicker here is that we, FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, we left Maddie with my mom and dad while we went out of town! Oh my goodness, this was SO hard on me. Maddie was fine and I knew that she was in good hands, it was just me that was so upset. Josh and I joked all weekend about how bad it was going to be when our kids grow up and leave us for good...lol....We did however have a good time, even though we lost quite a bit of money. There was a jacuzzi bath tub in the actual hotel room right beside the beds. It was kind of funny, yet neat at the same time. We returned home at 10:30 Tuesday night, and Maddie was out cold. I JUST HAD to wake her up though. So after 15 minutes of moving her around, I finally got her awake enough to say hello. She and I stayed up till about 11:30 before I finally got her back to bed. I have never been so excited to come back home from a vacation before in my life. I just love her SO MUCH!!!

  • On a side note, we finally gave in and bought a rocker/recliner! I get to pick it up in the morning!!

  • As far as school goes, I have only been up there one time during the break to rearrange my classroom, and I guess I will have to go back up there again tomorrow to at least write my lesson plans for the upcoming week. I have my yearly observation sometime when we get back....blah.

  • Oh, as for the new years...Josh was at work, so I gave Maddie kisses instead. Then we were back at home and in bed by 12:45. Let's just say it probobly wasnt one for the record books.

  • All in All the holidays were great and I enjoyed spending time with my family and friends! I wish you all a Happy New Year, and pray that God brings blessings to everyone!!
