Kenzie Layne- my 100th post

Tomorrow Kenzie will be one week old, and what a week it has been! All I can say is that I am very blessed to have a husband that was able to take off for 16 days to help me out. He has done a wonderful job cleaning, taking care of Maddie, and even cooking.

My surgery went really well, and I was able to come home at noon on Friday. The cut looks great, and even better than the first one I think. I was actually doing a few laps in the halls at 9:00 that night after I had my surgery at 2:30ish that day. I wanted to prevent the stupid gas pains that I had last time, and luckily I didnt have a one. I also remember being quite helpless last time and needing LOTS of help with all areas after my surgery, like getting up, going to the restroom, etc. This time I dont think Josh had to help me but maybe the first time going to the restroom, and ocasionally getting out of bed. I also went several times without getting meds when they were offered to me. (Honestly when I did need meds I wanted them more for the nursing than the surgery itself.)

Nursing has been quite a different experience for me this time. Kenzie didnt have any trouble latching on and ate ALOT. She actually ate 13 times in a 16 hour span. Dr Sawyer her pediatrician said that for my sake, we should make her wait at least 2 hours in between feedings. At this point I was already in pain, but thought it would go away after a few days. The nurses came in and checked to make sure she was latching on and both times said it looked great. (Im still not so sure)Im still extremely sore, and not just when she latches on. One side is much better than the other, and I apply lanisoh after every feeding to help them heal. The day after we got home it was so bad that one side started bleeding (which happens I know) but she started spitting up brown, and then some blood clots, and then pink milk. It only lasted one day, but it scared me. After talking to several people and doing a little research I found out that it doesnt hurt her. However trying to get myself healed while still nursing is quite complicated. She is still eating every 2-3 hours even through the night (which Maddie didnt do either). Another issue is that I am always full...although she eats alot, she is never able to fully empty them, so I started trying to pump and even that hurts, and I still cant get alot with that.....so needless to say right now I am taking lots of deep breaths and praying that this will soon pass.

As far as Kenzie goes- she was born on Wednesday February 17th at 2:41. She weighed 6 pounds and 7 ounces (Maddie was 8 lbs. 1 oz) BIG DIFFERENCE. She was 18 1/2 inches long. The good news is that everytime she was checked for jaudice it showed 0.0 level. The nurses and doctors were very surprised and some said they had never seen that before, because even normal healthy babies usually have a low level of some sort. Before we left the hospital she was down to 5 pounds 14 ounces, and Dr. Sawyer set up an appointment for Monday to check and make sure her birth weight was going up after the first few days. So on Monday she was 5 days old and she was already back up to 6 pounds 4 ounces, which was only 3 ounces shy of her birth weight. So by her first official appointment Im sure we will have surpassed that weight by quite a bit, especially if she continues on the feeding regiment she has now.

We have already ventured out a few times because I need to walk somewhere besides in my little house. We have been to Lacy's house, Wal Mart, to the school, and to the Doctor. It snowed today and we didnt step foot outside. Josh ran a few errands but Maddie has had a little cough, and I wasnt about to take Kenzie outside when it was that cold, so we will have to wait till the next snowfall to enjoy it.

This was the first time that Maddie agreed to hold her. It just so happened that they were wearing their matching outfits that my friend Jennifer from work got them. It only took 5 days, lol.

The Night Before....

So it is 11:30 pm and Josh is cutting up an apple for me to eat as my last meal so to speak (since I cant eat after midnight) before I have my c-section tomorrow at 12:30. We had a really big supper at Hidalgoes so Im really not that hungry, but I am making myself eat something since I wont get breakfast in the morning.

I have been an emotional wreck the past few days everytime I look at Maddie! I keep thinking things will never be the same again, and I love her so much!! I know she's not going anywhere and that I will still get to do all the things with her that I do now, but it still seems like an end to something that is the most incredible thing EVER! I just can't quit thinking about how this will affect her, and worrying that she will get left out or feel jealous.

The good thing is right now I am so worried about Maddie that I dont have time to process that I will be in surgery in about 12 hours. Im not nervous yet, more curious as to how it will all work out. Everything happened with Maddie so fast I do not remember all the things we did or the order that they happened in. It will be strange to walk into the hospital at 10:30 and say Im here for surgery!

On a good note, I am excited at the same time to see Maddie help with Kenzie and see her be a big sister. I also am ready to see Kenzie's little face and see if she looks like me, or Josh.

As of my last appointment I had still only gained 7 pounds total~! Thats just nuts....I had gained 29 pounds over my pregnancy with Maddie. I also started out weighing less with Maddie too though. My blood pressure was good I guess and Kenzies heart beat was pretty fast. He said she was really happy, lol.

Since I got home today I have started packing, and I am having a hard time packing and deciding what to take. I mine as well be a 1st timer! Maddies bags are packed and she will stay with Lacy Wednesday night and my parents on Thursday night while we are at the hospital. If everything goes as planned we should be home by Friday.

My house isnt as perfect as I had imagined, but Josh and I have really done alot in the past week to get it presentable. (Josh more than myself) People will just have to take into consideration that I worked until the day before Kenzie was born and that makes it hard to come home and keep a spotless house, especially with a 2 1/2 year old.

So I just finished my apple w/ caramel with 2 minutes to spare before I am cut off. :)

I suppose I better get finished packing so I can go to sleep. Please keep Kenzie and I in your prayers around 12 o'clock tomorrow afternoon that I have a safe delivery and she is a healthy baby.

Goodnight and God Bless!!

Catching Up

So I have been neglecting my picture taking as well as updating my blog, so here are a few shots of things from last night all the way back to Christmas, lol.

This is a picture of my belly as of last night. I have one more dr. appointment on Tuesday, then we will have her the next Wednesday.

Well since Mommy was getting a picture of her baby belly, Maddie wanted to take a picture of her baby belly too...It was kind of cute at first, until we looked at the picture and then it was just hilarious!!! She has, what I have always called, a Budda Belly....well it just so happens that she looks just as pregnant as I do, lol.

This is Kenzie's bedding all set up in her crib. We finally got it put together and in the room. We are still rearranging some shelves, but the bed is ready.

Like I said before I have not uploaded pictures in quite some time, but I thought you needed to see a picture of Maddie's Santa dress...It was super cute!
This was one of the days that I asked Josh to go to HEB and get us some donuts for breakfast, well it just so happened that he picked out a red icing one for Maddie, and obviously it was a big hit.
Josh is at work tonight, so Maddie and I are watching the Super Bowl at home alone. We went and got a pizza and finished lots of laundry. This week is my last week of school and its going to be a hectic one. My hope is that I will have lots of energy to work all day, then come home and clean the house too, so that this weekend Josh and I can just relax before all the craziness starts on Wednesday. Sunday is Valentines Day and Josh will be at work, so we are trying to figure out something we can do Saturday night, just the two of us. It's kind of hard since Im very pregnant and the weather is supposed to be blah...so if you have any romantic ideas, please let me know.

Cant believe it!

As of tomorrow I will have 24 days left until Kenzie blesses our presence. (Unless she comes sooner, which I doubt). I have SOOOO much to do to get ready for her. Until last night I just kept thinking, we can do that later, we have time...Well really, we dont have time anymore! Josh started cleaning my kitchen last night, and thats when I finally realized that there is much more to be done. Here is the most urgent list of things that I can think of:

1. Clean- kitchen, living rooms, our room, and bathrooms...ok so the whole house
2. Get Kenzies crib from Dad's house, set it up, and put her bedding in it.
3. Preregister at the hospital
4. Pack for the hospital (this is last on my list of things to do actually)
5. In order to set Kenzie's crib up in the girls room, I will have to take stuff out, rearrange, and hopefully purchase a new dresser.
6. Get everything in order at school, such as lesson plans for 8 weeks.
7. Paint Kenzie's name for her wall (so this isn't something that I have to have done before she gets here, but I did it for Maddie and want to make everything just as fair as possible)
8. Get my hair cut, eyebrows waxed, pedicure (all of which will probably get done this weekend while Josh is in Junction with the guys for their yearly manhunt.)
9. Enjoy as much time and cuddling with Maddie as possible before I have to be laid up in a bed recovering from a c-section and nursing Kenzie.
10. I think I want to go on one more date night with Josh while we have a chance....we did absolutely nothing without Maddie until she was almost a year old, not that it bothered us because we would both rather her be with us, but I also know that I love spending time just the two of us and want to take advantage of the next 3 weeks.

That is quite a list too accomplish in 24 days! It wouldn't be so bad if I knew I was going to wake up each morning feeling great, however over the last few weeks it seems that my dizzy spells are coming more frequently. The problem with them is that I never can tell how long they will last or how bad they will be. It seems to vary ever time. I actually had to leave work last Thursday (the first time all year I called in sick, even when I had strep throat) because they wouldn't go away. They make it impossible to do anything. I have been resting and drinking water as much as possible, but with work and Maddie, and all that needs to be done...its probobly not enough. Josh has been wonderful and taking care of me when I have dizzy spells and after he started cleaning the kitchen yesterday without me asking I just wanted to squeeze him!

As of this morning I have started a load of laundry, put one in the dryer, and folder another load. I think its time for Maddie and I to take a nap though.

Symptoms: DIZZINESS!!! its getting on my nerves. It seems to be happening more often, and I had to leave work this morning because it wouldn't subside. I HATE missing work! I woke up at 4:30 this morning dizzy and thought surely it would go away before work, but nope. So I came home and laid down and I am feeling much better, its not completely gone yet, but close.

Sleep: good until I woke up this morning with the dizziness
